I was deeply inspired to record this song after reflecting on the ways in which many of us need to set boundaries in
order to protect our mind, our mental state. Kamar shares. I wanted to explore how easy it is for us to let our
struggles affect us, even when we make a conscious effort to stop our secular life from destroying our well-being.

The mid-tempo R&B and Electro-Pop track has a distinctly throwback feel and shares its sonic palette with other hits of a similar fashion, such as Are You That Somebody by Aaliyah, No Scrubs by TLC and Pony by Ginuwine. I didnt
want this song to be a ballad, states Kamar. I wanted it to slot easily into a 90s playlist, the sort youd put on at a
house party, but I also wanted it to pack a punch with the lyrics once you started paying attention.

Having spent the first 20 years of his life surrounded by the diverse soundscapes and genres that permeate through London, England, Kamar moved with his family to the USA over a decade ago. During that time, hes spent a lot of his time writing lyrics and recording voice notes of random melodies that have now culminated into his debut album, Up Until Now.

The album is a reflection of everything Ive been through, as well as the trauma I and my family have experienced. I want to share an array of sounds that influence my music, from R&B to Indie Pop, West Coast Hip Hop to Garage, Chamber Pop to Afrobeat, and more, all being linked together by a coherent story. This album is a full reflection of me, no holds barred.
